Still Life: New Life at New Wave Coffee July 2 - 31, 2010
Part of the 2010 Milwaukee Ave Arts Festival

Definitions of artistic styles have come a long way in the history of art. When you hear Still Life, what comes to mind? A vase of flowers or a bowl of fruit? How about an animal skull or piles of dead fish? All have been done by some of the world's most well-known artists. In this exhibition, we hope to blur the lines of the traditional still life by means of subject matter, media, and style.

Opening Event:
Friday, July 2nd, 2010
6-9 pm

What is N.A.I.L.S.?

N.A.I.L.S. is a collective of artists of every discipline, but with one thing in common - we all reside in Logan Square.

Our main objective includes providing a forum for neighborhood artists to exchange ideas, constructive critiques, techniques, exhibition opportunities and announcements through our meetings, website and Yahoo! Groups listserv. Once a month we meet at a space in Logan Square. Recent venues have been New Wave Coffee, member homes, and the Logan Square branch of the Chicago Public Library. Participants bring completed works or works-in-progress for constructive feedback, or to discuss things happening in the artistic community.

We seek to engage Logan Square and the surrounding communities with art by organizing activities, events, and exhibitions. Since we are also very interested in furthering the artistic careers of our members, we make appearances at the Logan Square Farmer's Market, organize art sales and promote all artistic ventures of N.A.I.L.S. members within the local community.

Would you like to join us?

The only qualification for membership is that the artist must live in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, IL.

If you are an artist living in Logan Square, you are basically already a member. To join you do not need to pay any dues, or submit a portfolio. Just send us an email to let us know who you are, and attend one of our monthly group critiques.

You may email us directly at nails.logansquare@gmail.com.

To be able to send and receive messages and announcements from all N.A.I.L.S. members, you can subscribe to the existing Arte Logan Square Yahoo! Group (strongly recommended as this is the main method of contact regarding meetings and shows):
